Meet the Team

Clifford Bell

Founder
October 31, 1927 – July 2, 2020

Clifford Bell was the founder of Town & County Real Estate and Investment Company, Inc. A Sandersville native, Clifford attended Oxford College of Emory University and spent 18 months in the army in the 89th Military Police Company at Fort Monroe, Virginia. After his service he graduated from Emory University and returned home to Sandersville in 1950.

Clifford began his career in the insurance business and soon became a co-owner, and then owner, of Jackson Sash and Door Company. That business became Sandersville Builders Supply, which he owned and operated for 30 years. A true innovator and entrepreneur, Clifford identified an opportunity to stimulate his building supply business by creating Sandersville’s first spec house development company. With no real estate agency available to sell his houses, he then began his own firm Town & Country Real Estate and Investment Company. Clifford still holds a broker’s license in Georgia today.

While a resident of Sandersville, Clifford was a loyal Rotarian, served on the board of trustees at Emory University where he was awarded the Emory Medal and served on the board of counselors at Oxford College of Emory University. Bell was a member of Sandersville United Methodist Church where he also taught the men’s bible class for many years.

Clifford was married to Jackie Becton from Pooler, Ga., and had three children: Tom Bell, Barbara Bell Lance and Beverly Bell Webb.  He and Jackie lived in Sky Valley, Ga.
